Hello

I come from a musical family; my maternal Grandmother played a Ukulele Banjo, my Mother  piano and my Father was a singer/guitarist who had guitar lessons from Ivor Mairants - from whom he bought a  1936 Gibson L4 that he used all his life.

He played in Geraldo’s Orchestra, made a couple of records and played many solo gigs around South London and Surrey.

I started playing guitar aged 13. A few friends and I formed a band st School called SWAG. 

​

Fast forward to a Melody Maker ad from a band based in Eastbourne called 'Room Service',  I joined and commuted from Croydon  for rehearsals and pub/club gigs. We did our own material and covers.

​

When that folded, the singer Ian Sprange, moved up to Croydon and we formed a band there. Later Ian was managed by Chas Chandler ( bass player with The Animals and Manager of Hendrix and Slade)

 

I was in a multitude of gigging and recording bands that played in London venues such as the Marquee, AdLib, Embassy, Rock Garden, Fulham - Greyhound and Golden Lion. I have been in 3 tribute Bands (Blondie, The Pretenders and Wishbone Ash)

I started to teach guitar at an Adult Education centre in Surrey. I have recently restarted 1:1 lessons.

​

My other interest is in photography and I started to take photos of name artists and bands, such as Johnny Marr, The Who, Steve Vai, The Damned, The Pretenders,  etc.  My photos of The Who's Simon Townshend have been used for his album/CD covers. 

​

These days, in addition to giving guitar lessons,  I am in two  songwriting bands:  'Red Tailights' (back with Ian Sprange!), and  a duo called 'Jukebox Glory', with a singer called Ratch.

Jukebox Glory have released several songs on Spotify recently  and have more to come next year....
